We just got back from our first family vacation with Cohen in Holden Beach, NC.
What a blast!
We celebrated Ben’s 34
th birthday with a Lasagna dinner and Strawberry Shortcake on June 3rd and loaded up the cars to make the three hour drive while Cohen was asleep.
Grandma and Grandpa Turner came as well as my sister Steffani, who flew down from Rochester, NY.
We stayed at our buddy, Philip Moore’s beach house.
We took the jogging stroller up to the beach where Cohen got his first glimpse of beach and he was instantly mesmerized.

I could barely contain him to finish putting on the sunscreen and his swim shoes and he was off chasing the birds and pointing at the waves.
Fortunately we didn't have to deal with the extensive sand eating that all my friends talked about. I worried that Cohen wouldn't like the texture of the sand since he wasn't too keen on the sandpit at the playground, but to my amazement he was quite content grabbing handfuls of muddy sand and throwing it endlessly.

Cohen discovered minnows, clams, sand lice and a huge snail.
When he was tired or hungry he would just “waddle” his way up to the beach tent for a snack or just a little shade.
What a cutie.
When Ben set up his fishing gear he climbed in the chair as if he was fishing all by himself.
We bought some mini ice cream drumsticks which must have looked gigantic to him but were the perfect size for Cohen to eat by himself- forget about trying to take it away from anyway.
By day 4 we had out share of the sun and surf so we headed home.
What a great time.
