The long awaited day has arrived- LaGrand's Baptism. There was much anticipation as well as anxiety for this day (due to obvious ex-wife reasons), but surrounded by family and friends, the day thankfully went without incident. Grandma and Grandpa Benedict arrived from Michigan as well as LaGrand's cousins from Virginia which was a nice treat. Grandma and Grandpa Turner, Shama Barnes, the Burgon family, the Patrey family, the Collier family, the Howington family, our neighbor Rami and many of our ward members were also there.

Ben Howington, LaGrand's Cubscout leader, and family friend gave the Baptism/Holy Ghost talk. After Ben baptized LaGrand he said he felt warmth start in his toes and go throughout his entire body. What a wonderful and needed experience for him. One of the sister missionaries sang one of my favorite songs "The Baptism", while we waited for the boys to get changed. Afterward Grandpa Benedict confirmed LaGrand a member of the Church.

Mom was a tremendous help with the luncheon which was held at the Patrey's house. We had deli sandwiches on her homemade rolls, meatballs, chips and salsa, salad and ice cream for dessert. LaGrand received special gifts including a fishing pole, a journal, new scriptures, and money to start his missionary fund.
